The racing of Superbikes is a very exciting business, but for many riders keeping track of the bikes various engine and suspension settings for different circuits often involved scribbling messy notes on bits of paper that invariably ended up lost or mislaid.

We were tasked with creating an iPhone app that not only allowed them to be stored in a highly organized fashion, but one that allowed the most useful data to be selectively recalled.

Step 1: The Brief

When a client first makes contact, we ask them to submit a design brief which is essentially a broad outline of the app’s design concept along with a clear outline of what they expect the application to achieve. We also need to understand which handset the app is being designed for, whether it’s the iPhone, iPad, Blackberry, Android, Microsoft or Samsung Bada.

From this we can give a summary of the complexity of the project and what’s involved, from build timeline, to providing a costing and outlining what part the client will play in the overall project.

Step 2: The Requirements

Once agreed, the first step in building your application is to create a more detailed document that our app developers can work from. The document should set out the core concept behind the app and detail the exact requirements, from page content and layout, details of the user interface, graphic requirements and any additional or enhanced functionality.

Step 3: The Build

From day one, we will keep you abreast of the projects progress. At the end of each week we will create a test version of the app that you can download to your handset in order to review progress and provide feedback. At this stage of development we work with you to make any necessary changes or enhancements to the original specification and to ensure that the finished version entirely meets your expectations.

Step 4: Publishing

After testing is completed the final version is delivered. It’s then uploaded to the app portal along with supporting images and text (depending on device). Our clients maintain their own application portal, so that once published, they then retain full control of the app including all the marketing and financial aspects.

Step 5: Payment

Our terms are simple. Clients pay fifty per-cent of the total build cost up front and the remainder once the finished app is delivered.
