Case Study: Book House Children’s Books

The Brief:

Book House is an imprint of the award winning Salariya book company that publish a range of innovative and informative books for children of 5-14 years of age that are beautifully illustrated.

We were tasked with creating a universal app compatible with the iPhone, Touch and iPad that was visually stimulating, intuitive to use and above all showcased their portfolio of children’s books to a global audience.

The Solution:

The app was designed and constructed to optimize the ‘catalogue’ layout that the client specifically requested. This created certain challenges for us to overcome, such as the very detailed illustrations and small text on certain pages requiring a specially enhanced zoom feature in order to render correctly on an iPhone screen.

The overall feel of the app was enhanced by incorporating realistic page turning that complimented the impressive visual elements. Bookmarking and content page features were added along with links to the client’s facebook and twitter pages that could be accessed without closing the application.

To increase the level of user interaction and allow the app to function as a portal to the client’s sales and distribution teams, we also created a number of embedded elements within the page text such as web, phone and email links.

Conclusion:

The app is available for free download across the world within the Apple app store and provides an impressive showcase for the Book House company and its range of children’s books, as well as providing a portal for sales, marketing and increasing its brand awareness.
